The Captive Series (Book Two)

Renegade

Date read: 23.03.15 - 26.03.15

Summary/ General Thoughts

Satisfying? Not quite. Going after the next one in the series? No doubt.

In the second book of the Captive series Braith, after a lengthy swim in the darkest abyss of his character, finally couldn't resist going after Aria. Although all of us here knew that was only a matter of time.

After he sees her again and they make amends, clearing up the misunderstanding that taunted the relationship, we're back to the couple-against-the-world storyline.

After a series of events and revelations, as well as the introduction of a couple of more characters, Aria's family along with the renegades of the royal bloodline make an oh-so-very-important-but-so-awfully-predictable decision. They have to take down the king. And this means war.

Sequels are almost never worthy successors of the first novel. That doesn't mean that they can't be just as fun. I went in with no expectations and found it a nice quick read. Nothing happened, not really, but it was swoony reading about Braith's quickly-expanding (is that even a phrase?) feelings for Aria.

Arianna has finally quitted playing the martyr and embraced her feelings for a vampire. Although it would be nice if she denied him something from time to time. Like, I don't know, her life!? She was ready to give her humanity up. Obviously, it's not a satisfying ending if she doesn't turn but we're still in the second book. She could afford to find the idea repulsive for a few more chapters!

Anyway, can't wait to see what happens next. Although I have never (emphasis on NEVER) managed to follow a dystopian series all the way to the end to find out how they deal with the whole world being screwed up and in need of a recoup - mostly because dystopian series tend to take up a lot of books and I get bored - I am determined to finish the Captive series. I have already purchased all four sequels (the first book is free!) since the I found Captured too captivating to resist (pun intended)!
