General thoughts

How did Paula pull off a book where the love interest wasn't even there for the romance but, instead, was away, abducted by demons, for half the book?

Perfectly.

In the third book of the Rephaim series, the action (battles with hell beasts), the plot (yes there are still answers that we didnt even know the questions for till now) and the character-development (introducing even more lovable and detestable characters, friends and nemesis etc) are as good as ever. But we have something else to: an urgency in the narrating that let's the reader know that everything is about to change.

If you hadn't realised how quickly everything has happened you do now. The first book takes place in a week, the second in four days and this one in, what, two? There isn't a second spared, a minute where nothing happens. And a week doesn't go by without an earth - shattering discovery for Gabriella.

After Rafa is taken, Gaby is left shaken and impatient to get him back unscathed. That takes her back to the Sanctuary, a place that was her home for decades up until last year, and brings her face to face with old friends, forgotten (Daisy, Micah), old lovers (yes, I'm talking about Daniel), century's old secrets and schemes.

After Rafa is rescued and a new threat appears in her home, Gaby must repeat history. She must make a difficult decision. She must divide the Rephaim. And, finally, she must remember. Jude and she both know that. But can they?

A worthy sequel to the much-praised series that, once again, leaves the reader yearning for more.

UPDATE
Oh. My. God. The fourth book. "Burn". Is. Not. Out. Yet.

It says August 2015 in the UK. August. That's, like two months away. Two. Freaking. Months.

I don't know if I can survive that. I was supposed to start it straight away after finishing Shimmer, like I have been doing for all the books in the Rephaim series. But its release date is centuries away!

I'm going to express my grief with gifs. Obviously.

Seriously. This. Is. Torture
XOXO
